So you’ve decided that you want to dress your baby in new clothes. It’s not uncommon for parents to shy away from second-hand baby clothes which can be stained or worn. The good news is, it is still possible to dress your baby in brand new clothes that are cheap and affordable - you just need to know where to look.
The benefit of new baby clothes is that they have never been worn before, and because they are new, they should last for a long time. This is not always the case, but there are some places you can rely on for high quality yet cheap new baby clothes.
Tesco stock some very cheap new baby clothes. You can get 5 baby bibs for £2, or 2 pairs of baby socks for £2 for instance. Baby bibs WILL get stained and quickly, so the cheaper the better. Also, they are not worn on the baby’s skin, so quality of material is not such an important factor. Tesco stock very cheap new baby clothes that wash well, look good and ooze good quality. Asda, Primark and Matalan are other good alternatives for good looking, cheap new baby clothes made with good quality material. These supermarkets often do special baby and toddler events and sales so keep your eyes peeled.
You can get very good quality and fashionable baby clothes on the high street at more expensive prices. Maybe they are more fashionable than the cheaper stuff, but you have to weigh up the fact that your baby will be constantly growing out of their clothes in the space of a few months.
You may find that your baby doesn’t fit well into a certain brand of baby clothes. This is not uncommon. All babies are of different shapes and sizes, and you will tend to find that some brands fit better than others. Try to measure your baby before buying new clothes for them. If you can, buy off the shelf rather than online so you can get a proper look at the size and shape (and quality) of the new baby clothes. If you do buy online and are not satisfied, most stores will allow you to return the clothes within a certain time period anyway.
